"I AM NOT A CLUB DJ!"

My name is Irving Mendoza but when I DJ, I'm DJ BIG DADDY . I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. My late mother, a Filipino-War bride (Rosario "Charing" Mendoza ) was one of the founding member of the Filipino Community Center of Seattle. I have always been passionate for music. Growing up, I started playing various instruments; first-guitar, second-drums, then bass guitar which I taught myself. My first band that I was a part of was called the "ORIENT EXPRESS"  at the age of 15. We had many joyful experiences especially playing in front of my parents during many FCC dances. As of today, I am still a part of the band called the "INTENSITY BAND".
What made me decided to not only be a musician but as well as a DJ was my long-time former co-worker in the late 1970's, Paul (Boy) Pangalinan. He inspired me to use all the equipment I had around the house catching dirt that I haven't really been using to entertain. I believe God wanted me to follow this path of starting my DJ career at the same time being a musician and I am grateful and thankful for that.
As the Mendoza family head, I am married to Rocel Mendoza. We both have two beautiful and TALENTED children named Jaelon, 7, and Keanna, 15. We are a musical family listening to the GREATS of all time. I am blessed to have the Lord come touch us with the gift of music. Because of this, I know I have inspired and passed down my passion of music to my children. Jaelon loves playing the Nintendo WII's Guitar Hero: Rock Band and is super at it. As a 7 year old, he is already a "EXPERT" on guitar. Jaelon now is learning how to play various instruments in being involved with the FYA (Filipino Youth Activities) Drill Team of Seattle with her big sister. Keanna is what I call a recollection of me. She grew up listening to me playing in the band. I would take her with me and Rocel to the many gigs I had at the time.  As a young girl she would always want to grab the mic and sing with the band. Up to now, she is always singing and never, I mean NEVER, stops singing, practicing or looking for places to sing. I love my family and they love me too!
